Job Description

The Security Analyst (SA) has an understanding of all aspects of computer and network security, including such areas as firewall administration, encryption technologies and network protocols.
Information Security Analyst (Systems Security Analyst 4)
The Information Security Division within the Office of the CIO is looking for an Information Security
Analyst to assist with leading information systems pen testing, cybersecurity exercises, overseeing the
ISD internship program, implementing cybersecurity projects and supporting the information security
operations center activities. The candidate will be responsible for leading the ISD internship program
and mentoring interns, leading technical aspects of local and national cybersecurity exercises,
overseeing the implementation of the ISD cybersecurity exercise test environment, providing pen testing
of State of Iowa IT systems, researching, evaluating, and implementing cybersecurity solutions and
providing technical support for monitoring, managing and reporting on all cybersecurity alerts. The
candidate will have experience working in an Information Security Office, Security Operations Center
and a formal education and training in cybersecurity.
Responsibilities
- Lead the ISD internship program
- technical support for ISD cyber exercises
- Lead the development of the ISD cyber testing environment
- Assist with vulnerability management and pen testing computer systems in State agencies and
participating partners.
- Assist with information security projects as assigned by Information Security Operations
Manager and CISO.
- Provide technical support for security monitoring and response in Security Operations Center
(SOC).
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to events, alerts and incidents reporting supporting State of Iowa
IT systems and taking appropriate action to protecting IT assets potential incidents and threats.
- Document and report changes, trends and implications concerning the design and integration of
evolving cybersecurity tools, systems and solutions.
- Follow SOC processes and provide support to other ISD Security Engineers and OCIO support
staff during alerts, events and incidents.
- Submit new and update events in SOC and Service Now ticketing systems.
- Provide phone and email support to State of Iowa agencies and participating partners during
cybersecurity alerts, events and incidents.
- Provide off-hours and ad-hoc shift support as needed.
- Manage, configure and support SOC video screens and systems.
- Process and share information with other State of Iowa security teams and partners.
- Provide feedback to SOC management and security engineers on existing and new use event
cases.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology and tools.
- Assist with metrics, reporting, and other SOC communications.
- Provide support for incidents up to the preliminary forensics processes.
